Although, If you don't haul away the products to a stockpile or a dump zone and they are produced faster than they are used those workshops will get cluttered and slow down production. Dwarves are also not humans, so they can not be inhumane by definition. It's a good idea to keep related workshops close together anyway, as that reduces hauling times. (Elves are immortal, why not have them spend the rest of eternity in there as punishment for being an elf?)Īlso, dwarves can not commit war crimes against the other races or creatures, since the other races or creatures in the game are just prey or vermin, even if they're sentient. They are now a slave which only purpose in life is to destroy your garbage. You can even capture goblins, elves, humans or any creature that will trigger your cage trap, then seal them in a room with a pressure plate. Instead of using a lever for your atom smasher, you can use pressure plates or even an automated system using a minecart and rollers or more simple repeater systems: This dude has put out a lot of good stuff. Lots of tutorials you can watch, here's one for your issue: rather not have dorfs get slammed by the smasher. I mean, really it would end up being just a 3x1, Bridge 2x1 and 1 pressure plate. having a bunch of smaller ones would make matters a bit easier with the pressure plate actuation. I'd rather not have someone walk x number of stairs when they can just dump it at the stairs. The dump hole column goes all the way from the bottom of the aquifer to the well/bathing area. Understandable, however I have one smasher for the whole fortress, and two more for the butchers. You just make a 1-tile dump zone where the bridge drops. If no open tiles are available they will drop the items onto the floor" You don't need any holes or dump zones above anything. "Items designated for dumping will be thrown into open air spaces included in this zone. You can use dump zones or pit/ponds this way. When the bridge triggers it smashes down or up and destroys the item. They throw things into the hole, it falls down a Z level onto the ground or on the bridge. If you have a working quantum smasher and dump zone, explain how you got it working because I'm having a heck of a time getting rid of junk. Nothing in the workshops, all tasked cleared, still no dumping. I even let the whole fortress de-task, let it run on no work orders using existing food/drink for a couple months. I want to use the quantum smasher but they aren't throwing anything into the dump zone over the channeled hole. They won't pick up and dump things like rotting food, random items blocking open doors, corpses in the area beautification briefing room and things I designate with the trashcan. There is a setting in the hauling refuse "Workers dump other objects" Clicking it produces "workers save other objects" I have that set to "dump other objects". for whatever reason, I have several quantum smashers using the zone dump. Setup a second stockpile next to the butchers/fishery/tanners. I HAD an outdoor corpse/refuse stockpile.
